Who
Craig McClure - autobiographical information
I got my first IT job in September, 1973. I ran an old punched card accounting machine for a community college. This produced an interest in computers that changed my major to computer science. In those days, you punched your deck of cards and gave them to an operator, proceeded to the student center to play pinball or pool, went back to the operator, found a typo, fixed the card, played pinball, fixed the next typo, played pinball and so on. I knew my future wasn’t in programming (that’s what they called it back then) because I was always running out of quarters.
Around 1979 I found you could earn a living selling computers and I’ve been alternating between that and software support ever since. During the years in between, I had worked as a carpenter, electrical estimator and project manager, so I gravitated towards software for the construction industry. I began providing consulting services for Timberline software (now Sage Timberline Office) users around 1986.
In 1996, I was a founder of CreativeWare, Inc. and put the sales hat back on. In 2005, CreativeWare was the 8th largest Sage Timberline Office Business Partner in the U.S. In 2006, it became part of MIS Group. Since I had spent a great deal of time learning marketing and advertising by performing those duties for CreativeWare, it seemed natural that I would continue in that capacity for MIS Group. We formed a new CreativeWare, to share what we do with the business public and that’s where we are today. |
